The new-discovered virus is made up of genes from different origins – from bacteria, viruses, and eukaryotes.

The possible source of this giant virus is the Amoebae because its internal parts are melt pot of viruses and other organisms that allows to grow into a “giant virus” which adopts the genes from bacteria and viruses inside the Amoebae.

Didier Raoult – a scientist and his group from Universite de la Mediterranee in Marseille, France discovered the virus and they named it as Marseillevirus, from Acanthamoeba polyphaga.
