NBA Referee sentenced for 15 Months in Prison

NBA Referee - Tim Donaghy was sentenced on Tuesday to 1 year and 3 months in prison for betting on games he officiated and passing on inside information to gamblers.

Donaghy - 41, an NBA official for 13 seasons was pleaded guilty last August to wire fraud conspiracy to defraud the NBA and to transmitting gambling information across state lines in a scandal that sparked league reforms.

Tim Donaghy admitted that taking cash payoffs from gamblers in return for inside information, such as the physical condition of certain players and which referees would officiate games.
