Microsoft Windows 7 Next-Gen Graphics
Now that Microsoft is starting to demonstrate, and talk about,

the features coming to Windows 7, you’ll see more coverage on our site. Of course, we’re still in the early days. Windows 7 really only had its “coming out” in the Platform Developers Conference a couple weeks ago, and there wasn’t a lot of new information at last week’s WinHEC.
Still, I went down to the conference, targeted at hardware partners, to check out some of the new information about graphics in Windows 7. As with most of Windows 7, the changes to graphics are evolutionary developments to what we’ve come to expect in Windows Vista. The WDDM display driver model will be updated from 1.0 to 1.1, and DirectX 11 will debut with Windows 7 (though it will also be available on Vista).
