Filipina artist wins top prize in the U.S.

Sherie Sta. Cruz-Sloane is a a 30-year old Filipina artist based in the U.S. wins in the recent Strathmore ATC and ACEO International Exhibition and Art Competition held in Reno, Nevada.
ATC and ACEO or Artist Trading Cards and Art Cards Editions and Originals are individual art miniatures with 2.5 by 3.5 inches size. M. Vanci is the man who began trading sessions in Zurich, Switzerland in 1997 and popularize these miniature arts in the era.
Every year, Strathmore Artist Papers (a division of Pacon Corp.) hosts an art competition opened to all artist around the world. Strathmore Artist Papers is also one of the leading producer of paper, educational aids, arts and crafts products based in Appleton, Wisconsin.
“Chicago Spring” is Sherie’s winning entry - it is a watercolor painting of downtown Chicago with the Sears Tower as focal point. Sherie captured the scene during a bike ride with her husband in Lakeshore drive. The jurors were impressed by the remarkable details in Sherie’s miniature paintings and her abstract expression to the subject.
