Dolphins return to Tañon Strait in Negros Oriental

DUMAGUETE CITY - The famous dolphins in Bais City, Negros Oriental are back after they were reportedly dwindled in numbers as a result of the oil exploration along Tañon Strait.
Bais City Mayor Hector Villanueva expressed gladness over this development, reiterating his opposition to any activity along Tañon Strait that scare away and destroy the habitat of the dolphins, fish and other marine creatures.
In the past year, a Japanese firm had conducted oil explorations along the strait, which the mayor had earlier blamed for the disappearance of the dolphins.
Dolphin and whale watching is among Bais City’s major tourist attractions.
